Where the last of the garages stood at the side of the bungalows at the top of Birch Grove they have just built two houses ,don't know how much they are being sold for? Also finished building on what was Slaters pen and across the road on Booths brow Rd plus further up opposite Brocstedes . There is a section of land at the bottom of LG Road near the terraced houses which has been cleared and fenced off. Don't no what is planned for land that Village club stood on?

Things really are changing up there aren't they, the land what village club was on was bought by a young lad of estate and supposedly 2 houses was planned to be built.

About the garages behind the Legion...

Dougie: If you wer looking at the building from the Green, towards Spindle Hillock, there were some trees to the left. Walk on the road towards Spindle Hillock, and to the right, not many yards behind the club ,there was an entrance through the trees. Not much more than a dirt road. After a few yards, this turned to the left. I remember garages to the right of this.

To be honest Bri as you probably know breweries got greedy and forced landlords out of properties, they put managers in pubs these days for pittance money all respect and enthusiasm has well gone, back in the day you could name pubs and a landlords name would be mentioned, that sadly don't happen in the environment we are now in.

The volunteers are back in the graveyard again this year, they could use anyone of any age to help out if only to give moral support, these are three paths that have been cleaned after they have been strimming this week, still alot more need cleaning --Photos deleted---

Peter--They put an official notes saying all Christmas pots on the graves must b removed by Easter Sunday, they are still on some from 2/3 years ago I under stand some can't always get to the churchyard, if I was given permission to remove them from the section I help out with at the bottom end it wouldn't kill me, even at 80+ to throw them off when attending my Mam & Dads grave but as you know someone would say I shouldn't remove theirs

---Here--

Thanks' for that Keith I didn't know, we were at school together from the age of 6 and knocked about as teenagers upto getting married, he was in Ashton and Wigan police as a Dog angular for years but lost touch when he retired.
Hope your keeping well not seen you for some time but I keep my eye on you on here

Dougie,

Pauline’s brother moved up to that lovely neck of the woods originally. Pauline and Chris then went to live in a mobile home on the Crook-a- Lune site. They moved later to a permanent home in Caton village. Very sadly both daughters passed away, the younger one in tragic circumstances.

I know there's not a lot of communication these days dougie, but I don't think we should close it as whups keeps me informed with what's happening on estate,it may pick up if we ever get back to normal.
