Thank you all for your condolences. Mum moved to Downall Green when she was young and the Wards were the first family to live in the newly built house on Elm Ave. She had lots of stories about the estate and could remember people from the time she lived there until she left. That would be 1997 when she moved to Bryn. Hope I can remember what she told us as it does need to be shared when needed. Mum was 3 days short of her 95th birthday when she passed last Friday but could recall so well her DG days. We were so privileged to have her with us and she will be greatly missed and always loved. Thank you again

What's a phone box? When I lived at DG there was one opposite the Bell. This was taken away and replaced with a booth on a post, What's there now?

Problem is mobile phones aren't cheap these days and to have a contract is expensive, I've had same phone for years as I only need basics and pay £14 a month with free texts and calls, I won't have a new phone with contract as I would be paying for summat I don't use.

Bambam If you only use a phone every Preston guild why not have a Pay as you go phone. I have a phone which is 3yrs old and have a sim card which is 3 pence a minute for calls and 2pence for text. Only clause is I must top up £10 every 6 month but cheap for £20 a year.. Most cheap packages are 8p/4p for calls/text.

pay & go is being phased out & you will have to get a contract with your supplier . i,m currently on pay & go with virgin & they are stopping it as from the 22 jan 2022 because they say that 5g doesnt support pay & go ,, which i think it,s a load of cobblers & a ploy to get everyone paying a contract .
