5 new pence or 1 shilling a pint when I was 18 , then a walk up the road to one of the two chippy's on Rectory Road for Chips & Fish, you got change back from 1/- or 5 new pence you could have a good night out 3 pints, Fish & Chips for 2/-shillings, or 10 new pence in todays money.
