Hello all, glad you enjoy the film Marie.

Vince,I'll send you some rain later.
Also Vince..I only have a Magnum when we go to Daves on Tuesday,
there's no point saying no to him.

I don't know why I've got so many words left because none of them are plural,
unless Vince got them and he's being kind.

sepsis,skip,snip,sinks,snips,skips,spins,sees,skep,skene,kisses,kips,pines,
nips.

Weve done a lot of tidying up in the garden,it isn't a big garden and I tend
have everything growing in it..just love flowers and seeing what I can grow,
also out of bird seed I got the sunflower seeds, planted them and now
they're enormous..took some small conifers out of the front window box ,
been to Garden Centre again and got bedding begonias to replace them...
to top it all broke the sweeping brush so that's the next thing to get.
Don't I go on...Ray would say yes..

Thanks our Lizzie,I don't think I've slipped up with my words but only you
can decide, only with mine Maries and Vince's it comes to a lot more than
the target.xx💜

A big Midweek hello to everybody.
A cloudy, trying to rain but not quite making it, morning here in Blighty, 21C forecast.
A busy morning cleaning, God I hate to be back in the old routine, I could skrike!!!!!!! LOL

Well, yesterday my laptop finally gave up the ghost.
The screen is playing up, so reluctantly I ordered a new Dell 17” Inspiron.
It is due to arrive tomorrow.
I ordered it over the phone at a call centre in India and cheekily asked for a discount, she knocked me £28 off, nice one RMJ
I hope I get many years service out of it like my last one.

This arvo, a trip to Wigan for a mooch is on the cards.

Mo, I bet you had a grand day out yesterday, and no doubt a smashing lunch.

Sorry to hear about the Amberswood Tavern, as you say another one gone.
I have had a pint in there many many moons ago.
The Fox and Park Hotel nearby have also gone, very sad.
Loads more for Our Mo and Vince.
Hope you had a good round yesterday Vince.

Lizzie, I seem to have prattled on a bit today LOL
Just keeping you up to date with things here in Blighty.

A very good day to everybody.
A cloudy cooler day here in Blighty, 16C going to class this morning.
My new lappy arrived this morning, so I am going to set it up this arvo instead of going for a walk.

Mo, I know you like to feed the birds, but since I cut the hedges and trees down, the birds have nowhere to shelter and are not feeding from my feed station.
I need to move my feeders nearer to the remaining hedges next to Terry next door.

forgiving-virgin-ring-origin-groin-going-giving-iron.

Not a high word count today, hopefully I have left more for everybody.
I suspect Marie is on a trip out.

Lizzie, good to know that you are not affected by the drought in NSW.
It'll be no time at all when you will be enjoying some warmth I'm sure.
I wondered how Mo had known it was your birthday, so I have just peeped on WR and you are on the home page.
Hope you have a very Happy Birthday.
Thanks as ever.

Hello all,was going to go elsewhere this morning but it looked like rain
again and cancelled it,but look at it now.

Ray,we've always fed the birds, first it was a bird station, but looked out one
day and saw a rat shimmying up the pole,so that came down the hung all
the feeders in a Rhodi tree..put netting around the bottom so Flossie
couldn't get them, then saw two rats,so that put paid to that,we live on a
main road and takeaways aren't too far away and you know what idiots do
with unwanted pizzas,so rat poison had to be got..finally polished them off,so now we just feed the birds in other places,Rivvy or Southport..got
four packs of peanuts yesterday and a brown loaf in freezer for next time..
Whew that was long winded wasn't it.
P.S. I used to love watching the birds flying into the Rhodi, but it's all gone now.
Anyway, glad you've got your Lappy too.

grin,gringo,gong,info,firing.

Some left hopefully for Marie and Vince.

A big Friday hello to all.
A cloudy, warmish morning here in Blighty, 17C forecast.

Blimey O’Riley, what a stressful 24 hours I have had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Long story short, I’ve not been able to get my new lappy to log on.
It just buffers for 30 minutes, then gives me the message “Preparing automatic repair”, that lasts 45 minutes then the option to “Troubleshoot” or “Shut Down”.
“Troubleshoot” does nothing, and “Shut Down” gets you back to square one.
I went on the telephone to Dell Customer Service and demanded a full refund, which they were OK with.
While we were sorting it out over the phone, the “Desktop” screen, which I had been unable to get suddenly appeared on my new laptop.
It has a fantastic new feature, fingerprint recognition, you put you finger over the “Start” button and it log you in.
So I appear to be in business for the time being.
Hope it behaves for tonight’s quiz.

I can’t afford an i-pad now Mo, the lappy was NOT cheap!!!!!!!

Well done with the words everybody, I don’t think there are any more left.

Lizzie, I seem to have prattled on again LOL!!!!!!!
Thank you for looking after us notreets

A big hello to all.
A cloudy day here in Blighty, with light rain forecast, 16C.
Well, apologies from me, but yesterday was a stressful day.
Not only was my new laptop playing up doing an unbelievable 7 hours of updates, my old lappy was in for a new 'dry joint' to the motherboard, so I was computerless!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
We do have a 'big' desktop computer as well. but Susan was doing her family history stuff on it and couldn't ask her to stop.
Currently she has got one branch of her family back to the 1600's in Blackley in Manchester, they were called Consterdine of Dutch origin she thinks, all very interesting.

This arvo a Dell engineer is calling to install a new optical drive in my new laptop, I can't load Microsoft Word or Excel or play DVD's and CD''s, I am not a happy bunny with it.
If it's not fixed today I am going to ask for a full refund, I have had it a week and it's mostly been unusable.
Enough of my moans LOL

Hope you are having a better day than me Our Mo!!!!!!!!

Well done for starting us off Marie.
Loads more for Our Mo and Vince.

Lizzie, so glad that Keith got the 'all clear'.
It's great getting owd isn't it LOL!!!!!!!!
That sounds like a really good breakfast with Sis , I do like my eggs, but limit myself to two a week.
At one time eggs were considered bad for you because they were 'dairy', apparently now they contain 'good' cholesterol.
It seems the food scientists don't always know what they talking about.
I've prattled on again LOL
Thanks for our wordage Lizziekins,

I forgot to say Ray,I've been trying to find more out re my family history..My
friend Elizabeth used to work in the History Shop in Wigan, and she keeps
finding more and more out.My Dads Mum came over during the Irish
famine from County Clare..I found out whereabouts she lived..her surname
was Kinane..my grandad her husband came from Stoke..his surname was
McGovern..now isn't that a fine name..to be honest I didn't want to lose it. I try to find more every day.My Dad was the only survivor of seven
children..I found their names and date of birth ..so sad all lost to T.B.I won't be happy until I see County Clare..Cliff hasn't the same interests that I have
But....one of these days.

Maureen I traced my mother's family tree back to when great great grandparents came to Wallgate in Wigan from County Clare. I went to the village where they came from a few years ago and it was beautiful. Such a shame they had to leave.
Why did they have to leave when there was a potato famine. Was there nothing else for them to eat. I also wondered how they got from Liverpool to Wigan but someone said they would have got lifts on horse and carts.
It's fascinating.

Marie, the old saying "you can't put an old head on young shoulders is so
true..we could have asked so many things,..I could kick myself when I
think of the hours sat with my Grandma on her front step at the top of our
street..there s a site if I remember named Liverpool old news and there are
so many names on the emigration list from everywhere all over the world..I
started to look for my Grandmas family, but you have to have the correct
date..it's very interesting and there's an awful lot to read.

I wish they were here now so I could ask more questions..but that's too late now...just looked Marie,I've got the title of the site wrong, but I will find out.

A big Friday hello to all.
A bright cloudy warmish morning with some light rain just now here in Blighty, 17C forecast.

The laptop drama continues!!!!! LOL
The Dell engineer called round yesterday and fitted a new DVD drive.
However the PC did not recognise the drive.
He started a complete reinstall of Windows 10.
He left our house around 6 -00 pm.
At 12-15 am this morning it was still updating.
When I got up at 8-30am the machine was ‘dead’ and I couldn’t start it up.
A strong e-mail to Dell was sent demanding a full refund.
An acknowledgement e-mail has just been sent saying they will pick it up next week, with it being Bank Holiday weekend.
I is well brassed of!!!!!!! LOL (I nearly put another word
)

MO and Marie, it appears we all have Irish ancestry.
Our Kit did our family history a few years ago. and traced our patriarchal side back to Bostoncommon, near Rathangan in County Kildare, and our matriarchal side to Banbridge County Down in Northern Ireland, all very interesting.

calm-talc-italic-lactic.

Blimey, that was hard today.
Well done for starting us off Marie.

This arvo we'll do a walk either up or down the L & L canal from Rose Bridge and then a quick shop at Mozzers at Ince.

Sorry to hear of your bad back Mo, I know from past experience that they can just 'go' at any minute, and just stop you doing your everyday activities.
Just rest, take painkillers and get back to normal.

Lizzie, thank you for your advice.
Yes, I do have an i-pod touch, and I like it.
It tends to be used mainly as a music source, especially when I'm out walking.
I'm a bit of a latter day Luddite!!!! LOL and set in my ways, so prefer the use of a mouse when using a PC.
Dell have e-mailed me to say they will pick the laptop up next week and give me a full refund.
Since I've had my old lappy repaired, for the moment I will carry on using it.
I'll consider my future PC needs in the next few months.
We've had another beltin' week of words, thanks as ever

A big hello to all.
A cloudy not unpleasant day here in Blighty, 21C forecast.
A busy morning doing 'domestics', glad it's finished.

This arvo we are doing our 'Big shop' at Tescos Horwich.
The roads round Atherleigh Way near Sainsies have been awful this last few weeks,
a combination of three separate road works and the kids being off school has made the whole
area totally gridlocked.

Hope your back is improving Mo, I know how debilitating it can be.
Enjoy your Magnum anyroad

A belated hello to all.
A cloudy sunny pleasant day here in Blighty, after a wet start, 18C.
The usual last minute decision to go for a day trip.
We’ve spent the day at Boundary Mill at Colne, always a good day out.
We parked up and had sandwiches and crisps in the car, and a big mug of coffee.
I got new casual shirt for our holiday in September, we bought a photo album for the wedding pictures and not one but two lemon squeezers.

Well done with the words everybody.
Mo, see you for the cryptics later, hope Marie can pop on too
Hope you’re coping with the heat Vince.

I started with a cold / lurgy / man flu, delete as appropriate LOL after tea last night, but thankfully after a lazy morning mostly asleep, I appear to be not too bad at the moment.

Hello all, another non descript day, when the sun goes it changes everything
for me..my Mam used to say I was ruled with the weather.

Marie,I've just had a piece..for a few days now,I've been craving something
sweet, some years ago Dr Rosser( did you know him) told me "Maureen,
always listen to your own body,it will always tell you what you need". So I
listened Marie and I acted on his advice and very nice it was too.
I miss Dr Rosser,he once showed me his artwork and asked me if I'd go to
the art class in Chorley with him,,the next I heard he'd passed away.

I hope you enjoyed your rugby Marie.

Ray will be on his way now.hope he has a nice break.

A big Monday hello to Mo, Marie Vince, and of course Lizziekins.
Well, it's SOOOO good to be back.
A bright cloudy day here in Blighty, 12C.

I've been catching up on all your posts over the weekend.

Well, where do I start?
The worst possible thing happened last week, my Laptop died on me on the Saturday we arrived.
Most annoyingly, we had perfect BT wi-fi.
I think I posted a few weeks ago of the trouble I had with a new Dell laptop, long story short, I looked round for another laptop and to be honest Dell are a well made reliable product, so I ordered a new one last week, by phone of course.
It has been 'built to order' in the factory, and has currently been shipped (from China), so I am waiting for a delivery date.

We had a wonderful week in a property we have not been to before, if you Google 'The Coach House, White Moss, Grasmere' you will see it.
Believe it or not, it was owned by William Wordsworth, who bought it for one of his children.
The weather could have been kinder, but we did get three good walks in.

cordially-cordial-cardio-road-doll-arid-acid.

Loads more for everybody.

Lizzie, I've papped on a bit today!!!!!!! LOL
It's good to be back.
Hope your flags get dried.
Thanks as ever.

Anyroad fingers crossed.

A very good day to everybody.
A bright sunny day here in Blighty, 12C, why couldn't it have been like this last week?!!!!!!!
Marie, the reason my laptop is coming from China is that I have ordered it direct from Dell, and that is where they make Dell computers.
It is a 'build to order' machine, which means they make it to my specification.

Mo, enjoy your day out, and have a lovely lunch, I bet it's fish and chips, yum
Enjoy your warmth Vince, must be great to have almost year round sunshine and no freezing Winters.
We'll be digging ourselves in soon ready for the dark nights.

Marie..re your word MARD the other day, here someone wanted to know the
meaning.
The Oxford Dictionary describes "mardy" as English regional( Midlands and
Northern) and gives " spoilt child" as its primary meaning suggesting that
the word comes from " marred" meaning spoilt.
The earliest citation they give of mardy is from 1874,
Well who'd have thought eh.

Another bright sunny cloudless day here in Blighty, but only 13C this morning.

A lazy morning doing nowt.
I'm a little later than usual as we've both been for our flu jabs and the appointment was slap bang into our normal lunchtime.
They've asked us to think about having a shingles jab, I wasn't too keen, but apparently it's a 'one off' thing so we will probably have it done.
I remember my dad having shingles in his sixties, he was dreadfully ill for about 6 weeks.

This arvo, our walk up or down the L & L and then a trip tp Mozzers, we are creatures of habit!!!!!! LOL

Very pleased up to now, the only thing it doesn't have from the one I sent back is 'fingerprint recognition' which I really liked, you touched the 'start' button with your finger and it logged you in.

A very big welcome return to everybody.
A sunny cloudless day here in Blighty, 21C forecast.
This arvo we’re having a new bed and tallboy delivered, it is from Oak Furniture Land to match the stuff we bought a few weeks ago.
They’ve just phoned to say it’s arriving in 15 minutes, so we’ll be able to get a walk up Rivvy this arvo.

Mo, I can’t tell you how chuffed I am to get the letter my mum wrote, unbelievably 74 years ago, and to get a snapshot into her early married life, and to find great aunts and an uncle I didn’t know I had.
I now know my granddad had two sisters and a brother.
Susan has found the children of the above, and it seems likely that they will have children which will be my generation, they will be second cousins I think.
It was Hindley History Society on Monday night, and it was bring something in that was personal and talk about it, so I did a talk about my mum’s letter, it went down well.

Well done to Marie for starting us off.

Maureen, I went to the History Shop today and asked the lady there where did she think I could get a copy of the book. She looked on the computer and she said they have got a copy in stock at the Library. I went up and this lad found it for me. I couldn't believe it. So I will start reading it later.

A very big Hello to all.
A cloudy day which has turned to rain here in Blighty, 17C coming back from Class this morning.
I’m a little late, Thursday is a busy day too-ing and fro-ing Susan to her family history class in Bolton.

Our furniture arrived on time and is waiting to be unpacked, I’ll do that tomorrow.

Marie, as Mo has said, if you go on WR and find a thread called ‘Letter from the past’ on ‘Daily Drivel’, all the info is there.
Basically our daughter was contacted out of the blue by a complete stranger, who had found the letter in his Father’s belongings, he was a car boot collector and had somehow acquired it.

Sorry you’ve missed your Southport trip Mo, I don’t think tomorrow is on the cards either.

atlas-steel-seal.

Well done to Mo and Marie for starting us off.
A reasonable word count today, hope Vince can join in.

Lizzie, I bet you’re looking forward to your next break.
Thanks for our Thursday wordage, you’re a Big Aussie Star

Well done to Marie for starting us off.
