over 50s car insurance

Started by: PeterP (11316)

Just took out a new car insurance fully comp £213.Like everyone else i let my fingers do some walking on the computer to get the cheapest quote for me.Always use compare sites then the individual insurers sites to see if its any different in price, sometimes cheaper to do this? Being over 50yrs of age i tried SAGA but found their price to high but was shocked to find RIAS wanted £678 to insure myself.Who says the insurers look after the over 50s?

If anyone is expecting insurance companies to "look after them", they should consider going back to school.

Whether they pitch their quote high, or whether they pitch their quote low they are in business to get your money.

Get the best deal you can. Also ask others of their experience, so as not to be taken by a company whose response is poor, should you make a claim.

I was offered £101 fully comp, + usual extras for the bike.
Chap waffled and said £500 excess £500 personal.
I ased if this meant I had a £1000 excess on the bike, he said yes. I declined.
Got it for £124 from bennets, £250 excess.

Why are insurance companies allowed to get away with promoting acts of fraud?

staffbullterrier - do you compare prices? Most people I know get cheaper insurance as the years go by.

I compare insurance companies. The ones who claim to be for over 50 s are the opposite. I call them legal thieves.

There is no such thing as insurance for the over 50s. Not just cars, house and contents as well. THESE COMPANIES SHOULD BE ON RIPOFF BRITAIN. BETTER STILL CRIME WATCH.

over fifties are much less likely to make a claim, thats why they offer it cheaper.well thats the theory.

BAKER BOY. I AGREE WITH YOU WE ARE LESS LIKELY TO MAKE A CLAIM. THE FIRST YEAR IS REASONABLE BUT THE SECOND YEAR WILL BE MORE THAN DOUBLE. WE ARE AN EASY TARGET.

Had a letter today from Churchill, they are wanting to put my house insurance up from £199 last year to £316 this year. Rang them and he automatically knocked me £56 off. Will be ringing round.

be very careful with house insurance,if they ask you have you any valuables over £1500 you would probably say no.big mistake they start going round your house toting up washer, dishwasher etc etc till you have got valuables over £1500.then when you expect to be paid in full oh no sir/madam your valuables are worth more than 1500.you are'nt properly insured.my mates just claimed £1400+ for a burglary got 700+.get yourself down to a reputable independent broker give him your quote and ask him /her to beat it with a good policy.tell them to explain everthing slowly. good luck love.

billy that would be a surprise attack.
the insurance companies think we where all born yesterday , to young, to sick, to old ,to many points on your licence, unemployed ,travel too much, car to big,car to fast, etc ,etc.
it does'nt matter ,what excuse have they for making more profit out of us year in year out.
they have joined the great detestables ,estate agents, bankers, utility companies all rip off swine.

i forgot solicitors, reminded me of this story, my best mate moved away from us circa 1969/70 into his own home.the solicitor charged him £120 for the move when he read the breakdown he was charged £12 ten shillings for stamps.
at the time a stamp was 3d which meant 80 stamps to the pound ,equalled 1000 of them.the bill also stipulated £7 ten bob in stationery.at the time he was on £20 a week, furious he asked to see the solicitor for an explanation.he was met by a calm serenity from the man who said he agreed it may be a little over the top,to which my friend replied .he wanted a complete breakdown of everything they had done in the conveyance or he was'nt paying a penny, not unexpectedly the bill was very much reduced.how many others had been ripped off and never questioned this gang of thieves.
