Whups,

I doubt it coming down as you seemed to hope, especially when City have a more modern Stadium and a better training complex on the same site.

Times in Manchester football have change, so you need to get use to it.

United may have more supporters and all over the country, but that's only because of the way people jumped on the bandwagon of success when United were the richest club in the country and City were not as rich.

Times have changed with not only City becoming, richer but also many other clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham etc and now possibly Newcastle who have now got owners richer than United.

Around twenty years ago, I was in London where I saw as many people wearing United shirts than what were wearing shirts of London clubs. On a more recent visit, that was no longer the case as many more were wearing shirts of the top London clubs rather than United.

The song "Things ain't what they used to be" now applies to United!

Owd Codger,

I have no idea what whups has being saying as he is on ignore, for obvious reasons.

However, you make some very good points which are there for all to see, apart from blinkered trafford "fans", who are stuck in the past.

The world has moved on, I'm sure they realise this but refuse to accept it.

Yea the man who had been there 26 years, won 38 trophies and was approaching 72 retires because of City.

And you call other folk "blinkered"

Then again if he had an inkling of what lengths the Sportswashers were willing to "taint" their "reputation" with dodgy deals and 10 Million Euro fines for not coming clean about them then you may be right

Whups and Chatty,

Alex Ferguson who was a outstanding Manager retired because he saw the writing was on the wall as richer multi millionaires and consortiums were coming into the Premiership and decided that it was better to go out on a high before the rot set in as it did with a string of Managers following like it did following Busby, ie McGuiness, Cantwell, Sexton etc

And no club has had more bandwagon jumpers over the years than what United got during the "Glory, Glory Man United" years of Matt Busby, Tommy Docherty and Alex Ferguson

A song you don't hear being sung these days!

My point was the outright irony of a City fan suggesting that Sir Alex Ferguson may have retired due to his "reputation being tainted" by anything relating to Manchester City.
Who knows what would have happened had he stayed on a few more years, they had lost the League with the last kick of the season then strengthened and promptly won the League back with 11 points the season after so it is not beyond the realms of possibility that they would have won it again the season after had he stayed.
But that's pure speculation along with your assumptions so let's stick to the facts!

I don't think Fergie retired solely due to Man. city, but Owd codger does have a point regarding the catch up in money to United from other top clubs......Fergie was a clever and very astute manager. He knew it was rebuilding time and maybe he just thought he was getting to old to go through it all again because he'd done it on a regular basis before....really we shouldn't be talking about Fergie, because as you say it's "istree"

Pep will have been with the CHAMPIONS for seven trophy laden years when his contract expires having originally signed for three. If he wants to leave after that time he will go with the thanks and blessings of every Blue (and also to the relief of many supporters of other teams). It has been suggested that he won't leave until he has won the European knockout trophy. If that's the case I hope we never win it. ????

Your are correct, but if Sir Alex was still manager of United today, would he still have the same success with other top clubs having more money than United had in the past as being the richest club in the british game.

As for Pop "lining up another job", its more a case of Holland and other clubs/nations wanting him rather than him having any need to apply for any job.

You need to stop living in the past!

Yes I did!
No I didn't see them being inflicted but I saw a picture of the young ladies injuries on the morning after on social media and they weren't pretty.
And also heard a recording of the incident which she was bright enough to record.
They were removed very quickly, by whom I have no idea.
So I ask again whups, did you see her injuries?
And it's probably quiet because a court case beckons.
I heard what he said on the recording and her telling him no, and it certainly didn't sound anything like the set up you suggest.

“whups did you see the injuries that Greenwoods girl friend suffered?”

Whups that was what I said, and then I replied to the set up comments ,and then I said what I had seen. All it needed was you to say you had seen it.

I didn’t say he was guilty but I wouldn’t bet against it.

whups,I wouldn't know or be interested in her or her website to be frank, and I commented that I saw the pictures that morning, could have been on facebook but more than likely twitter, that SHE posted and then was reposted and heard the audio tape she also published.
She removed them fairly swiftly ,could have been on the intervention of her father and his advice,
That doesn't seem to be the course of action that someone after some compensation would have done.
What I saw and heard was obviously seen by the police and media and led to the arrest of Greenwood later that day and the investigation that is ongoing.
And that is why I formed my own opinion on what I SAW and commented so, as above.

Grimshaw, It is conjecture, absolutely correct, and the police are the ones conjecting.

Fossil.
The police are not conjecting.
They are presumably interviewing and gathering as much clear and precise evidence as they can.You should know that evidence based purely on social media is flimsy at best.
Thats why greenwood has been released on police bail.
I am sure truth will out and justice be prevailed one way or the other .

That's what United supporters want to hear about, not about rumours in Manchester City Centre.

Only because of getting no help from Wakefield City Council in finding new sites with the result that both clubs have now decided to re-developed their existing Stadiums

In contrast, St Helens and Warrington Wolves had no problems with their Councils finding a site for a new Stadium.

Peter g,I was just wondering why you thought the new build at Everton would not happen!
The Everton owner is reputed to be worth about 2 billion, maybe not all disposable but I would think he would have the borrowing power to cover the costs of the new build!
Edit. I have just seen that Moshiri’s contribution is 100 million and a further 350 from private investors which I assume he has got or capable of obtaining.
I agree about the points about council help,Everton had that.

Two questions hoping for an intelligent response.
What does the cabal of United followers on here think of the comments made by Roy Keane and Gary Neville after the match yesterday, when they said they were embarrassed and disgusted at the performance of United. Where they right?
And Alex Ferguson remark when asked a few years ago about whether Man City would ever overtake United replied "Not in my lifetime".
Would he be embarrassed as well as they clearly have done?
My opinion was that Man U played ok in the first half but were outplayed in the second, and didn't seem to try very hard in that period.
Money from the middle east wouldn't make a difference, some smart recruiting would!

Fossil, yes both were spot on, United were good in first half but shocking in second, they need a good clear out and buy young hungry players who will fight every minute in every game

The second about fergy , at present city are miles ahead of united but no they have not passed them, to do that they will have to win champions league 3 times and league over 21 times, and I don't think fergy will be alive by that time.

Well, I've supressed my guffaws for long enough to pass comment.

What a chucklesome day that was. The thrashing of the has beens, and all but consigning them to playing second/third rate European football next season.

Owd Codger said: "Perhaps United need to get new owners in the form of super rich Arabs etc".

That would make no difference, they already spend more than any other club and have the resources to continue to do so. It isn't about the money you spend, it's how you spend the money, and yesterday's humiliation (which was shown around the world), highlighted the inadequacies of their player purchasing "strategy".

..highlighted the inadequacies of their player purchasing "strategy".

Which have now hopefully finally changed with the departure of Woodward, the banker who helped the Glazers buy the club with a credit card so was put in charge of the footballing side for some bizzare reason as a thank you.

Whups the interest is because they are big news!

Whups If you are referring to me I asked two questions and asked for intelligent answers if possible.
Tiger cat tried and I commend him!
As far as my questions,I spoke about yesterdays match,it was big news as chatty said, that is why I commented and I spoke about BOTH teams and if you can see anything positive about the performance of United I would be interested since you haven’t mentioned it yet!
