Gas and Electric prices!!
Our supplier Eon wish me to pay an extra £63 per month to keep my account on track!!!!
Is this a symptom of this country's ridiculous management of our power supplies by successive Governments? We seem to buy in power from overseas or from foreign based providers rather than produce our own!
I hope it's not a result of the current ridiculous "Green agenda" whereby this current Government and PM seem to think we can stop "Climate Change"?
When will the idiots realise that it is a losing battle and instead of trying to " lead the world" we should be preparing for the changes that will undoubtedly come?
Their current efforts are as daft and probably as costly as HS2 (another vanity project!)
Civil unrest soon? It would not surprise me!

Forget 'how much a month' you pay. Find out the unit price and the standing charge.
These companies aren't "suppliers", like they say they are, they are merely 'billling' companies, Mr. 10%.
I fell out with British Gas, a couple of years ago, and went to one called "Bulb". I was talked into a 'monthly fixed price' account. £62 direct debit.
After two years at £62 a month I'm £283 in credit.
That means, to me, I'm paying too much.
So why have they told me my monthly price will be going up?
Replied: 30th Sep 2021 at 16:56
Isn’t the whole point of fixed price monthly debits to help people budget over the year…….yet here we all are moaning about the situation!!
If you aren’t happy go back to paying the bill off every month or every quarter.

i called bulb too & they quoted me around £ 123 per month . i was with green star till they got bought out with shell & i was paying upto september £ 76 p.m then the new price rocketed to £110 was the lowest price they could give me even tho i was £125 in credit so i left . at todays current price if you can get it lower than £74 p.m then take it & hope they dont go bust . octopus has paid for it,s gas & leccy 12months in advance .

whups , Most people missed the boat by not changing or renewing their supply soon enough we were all told it was coming, I live in a 3 bed semi built 1984 that was given a British gas certificate for low energy usage and it is now paying off, I could have gone for a 12 month contract but paid a bit extra for V7 24 month with Zebra G--3.2 E--15.8 St--20.9 as Tonker said go for unit cost, no one ever puts their unit cost up WHY
Replied: 1st Oct 2021 at 12:49
i,m a low user dougie which bears that out when my contract of £76 p.m i was in reciept of £125 credit at the end od the year & asked why they could only give me a contract of their lowest price of £110 . they owed me money at the end of the year on a £76 pm contract why would you put up the price by 36 quid a month ? , it doesnt add up ? .

Following your recommendation, here's my quote off Zebra :-
Zebra Fixed 24 Month Exclusive V10 Paper Billing

Total annual cost: £1,647.90
Existing annual cost £1,260.00
Our Tariff .......... Your Current Tariff
Tariff cost: £813.31 .......... £660.00
Standing Charge: 30 p/day .......... 28.74 p/day
Unit Price: 25.091 p/kWh .......... 19.789 p/kWh
Monthly Amount £67.78 .......... £55.00

"Forget 'how much a month' you pay. Find out the unit price and the standing charge."
The voice of sense. I'm in total agreement with that statement, Tonker
Does not matter how much payment a month a company wants off you its what they charge per kilowatt that you should be concerned about
Ive had one company go bust last December, Yorkshire Energy and they were cheap so Im not really surprised that they went bust. I got moved to Scottish Power by Ofgem but very swiftly changed suppliers to Outfox The Market when I saw the prices per kilowatt's For the record my payments dropped by £20 a month.

I'm going for the last man standing out of the small energy suppliers
Zebra Energy a Manchester supplier ,I know it's not the cheapest but it only costs me £56.46 per month, been with them last 3 years
Gas unit--3.22 Daily charge--20.95 End of contract -16/05/2023

Never had any trouble with that. Pay for what you use in the quarter. Not what they think you will use.

A couple of years ago, I discovered that I was paying two insurances on one of my cars.

Replied: 25th Oct 2021 at 15:05
That's the problem with these automatic renewals Say you die and your wife doesn't realise that this automatic payment is taken out. It could go on for be years The automatic renewal should be on condition that they contact you before renewing it and they can't go ahead and renew the policy until they have heard back from you.

On the letter it is printed that there is NO auto renewal . I am not staying with the AA but I will phone them nearer the renewal date and confirm there is No auto renewal. No company loyalty by me I shop around for everything when they are due.

We pay around fifty five pounds a month over twelve months for our gas. The heating is on now and will not go off until April / May. When we are out or on holiday we leave it at 19c and turn it up as necessary when we are in. in cold times we probably have it at 24c. It is false economy and suicide to turn the heat off.

I would not, in any circumstances, let Eon have access to my bank account. They have shown themselves to have a predilection for grabbing cash belonging to their customers, and to which they are not entitled.
The 'Which' report, which their adverts suggests rates them highly, actually ranked the joint 22nd out of the twenty five suppliers compared!

Got an E-mail from Eon asking me to send them meter readings even thou I have Smart meters. I phoned them up and told them I don't know how to read the meters(I have read all the instructions on line to no avail) they said there was widespread faults with smart meters in AUGUST. Said it is now November they said it takes 90days to clear the fault They reset my meters and reduced my payment down from £91 to £69 and when I checked their quote that had been reduced by £10 a month?

Tonks - hasn't Bulb gone bust? 19 domestic fuel companies have gone bust over the last 4 months. Costs are due to get worse in April. When a company takes over customers from the bust companies, the new company has to go out and buy fuel for their new customers, such fuel price has rocketed as we've all seen. Ofgem has imposed a levy on all suppliers to share the cost of these companies baling out the busted ones and, I read, that the cost of that and the prices of buying the extra fuel is going to hit the consumer in April.
And of course the increase for the green loonacy.
