I seem to recollect that we did not want a GM mayor and that we were told that we had to have one by the Tory government.

You reap what you sow Boris.

Burnham is being backed by our local turncoat Lisa Nandy.

I don't get where yoo two are coming from, Andy Burnham hasn't backed down at all, and all he has done, and all he can doo is openly disagree with the Government policy, he has no power to stop the Government imposing Tier 3 on Greater Manchester, and he and Lisa Nandy want more money for the people who will lose their jobs when the Tier 3 starts, because under the original Furlough Scheme the Government paid 80% of salaries, but after the end of October that will drop to two thirds or 67% and their argument is why has the amount been dropped, when the virus is just has prevalent has it was last March, and folks bills have not dropped since last March, so why the reduction in money, so I cannot see what Andy 'Burnham and Lisa Nandy are doing wrong, they only have the power to skrike about it, and skriking about it is what they are dooing ....

As regards the Government, well if you were Prime Minster, what would you do to get rid of the pandemic and make everything reet again ????

Well it has not been fashionable not to like Andy Burnham for years now, but if it was not for him and Smiffy, we would not have the Santa Poolstock Raceway in Wigan now, but I don't think it should be a question of whether you like a politician or not, they should be judged on what they doo, and it is very rare that I agree with a Labour Party Politician, but on this one I think that Andy Burnham is right, and I commend him for not agreeing with the Government, but I also agree with the Government in not just imposing Tier 3 in that they are trying to get everyone in agreement on the way to go with defeating the pandemic.

Yoo see that when yoo have a boss, if no one likes the boss, then that means that the boss is dooing their job correctly, because it is not the job of a boss to be liked, the bosses job is to be the boss

I am self-employed and Andy Burnham wants the Government to give me more money, so on this one me and Andy are in agreement

Next thing which Andy gets involved with I probably will not be in agreement with, because I go with the flow, and the same with Lisa Nandy, as she goes about her political life, I agree and disagree with whatever she is dooing, it is what a none politically aligned person such as me does.

Are yoo listening or should I say reading Whupsy

At the moment I like Boris, because he has been doing things that I like, but if he starts to do things that I don't like, then I will say that I don't like what he is doing, and if he does a few things that I don't like, then I will say that in general I don't like him.

I don't think that you should show the same support to political parties, in the same way that you show support for a football team, and when it comes to football teams, if a team consistently is doing crap, then I would choose to support a different football team, because who wants to support a loser or a consistently losing team.

You are better off being a floating voter, and look at all sides of an argument

Dr Indeewar Kapila, a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine in Manchester, said the situation in hospitals was "very concerning" as admissions rise and limited bed spaces are filled.

The situation could look very different in a week, Dr Kapila said as around one-third of ICU beds are currently filled but Manchester’s rising number of coronavirus cases threatens to fill wards to capacity

“We have about 440 cases per 100,000, which is extremely high, we are very concerned that we may reach a situation very soon where intensive care beds are beginning to run out," Dr Kapila told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

Dr Kapila’s warning follows a leaked NHS document that showed some hospitals in Greater Manchester were already at capacity

The document showed hospitals in Salford, Stockport and Bolton were already full by last Friday, according to The Guardian

A month ago, I was 'unfortunate' to visit the Infirmary in Wigan.

After a three hour wait for an ambulance, I was then taken to a triage nurse for further examination. I was then told to sit in a draughty waiting room, in my pyjamas, to wait a further three hours.

I was then examined by a junior doctor and given a note to collect Aspirin.

All the time that I was in A and E, there was little going on and no one was stretched or over stressed. I did notice one nurse who looked as if she'd fallen asleep. There were no queues in corridors.

I then left the hospital, still in my pyjamas, and was picked up by my daughter, who had hurriedly left the class she was teaching, to pick me up.

At no time during my stay was I offered a drink or asked if I was hungry. TWO MORE HOURS PASSED before I was picked up.

Seven days later after my son phoned the vascular dept and demanded to see a consultant; I was then given a doppler scan at the Christopher Home.

14 days later (14 DAYS) my son demanded that the results should be made known to me, and my family, and an appointment made to see the consultant.

I have been offered a review this Thursday to see a 'health advisor' to discuss what the next plan is...if there is one.

Let's all give a clap to the NHS...'Hard Pressed' by Covid...(HARDLY) on its way to inevitable privatisation.

Anybody watching the news conference earlier must be concerned at the rapid spread of the virus in GM.
Wigan was used as one of the comparisons and on the basis of the figures the virus is virtually out of control here. There are more confirmed cases in GM than the whole of the South East and South West.
Nobody in government or the PM have caused the surge in infections in GM. It’s down to the people here not complying with the basics to prevent it spreading. One can only hope and pray they get the message now

True. TTS.
Because of my age and under lying health problems I stayed home for 12weeks. Daughter bringing me supplies and chatting to family via social media.
I have never broken the rules.
I'm currently in a bubble with daughter as I live alone.
Been going to daughters and she has been coming here.
And food shopping.
Found out last week that I have been in contact with some one who has tested positive. So back to isolation for another two weeks and then facing more restrictions with the new rules.
So yes any one can get it, no matter how careful.
There are many, many people in a worse position than me, so I count myself lucky.
Been in isolation for six days now and showing no symptoms yet thankfully.

Thank you first mate.
But the contact with a person who treated positive is confirmed.
So I will carry on with the rest of my isolation and hope for the best

My neighbour next door is a doctor at Wigan infirmary and this morning she's told me and my wife that it's been hectic lately, she explained that a symptom of covid is sickness and diarrhea so folk with these symptoms have been turning up in droves, all needing to be tested and sorted. She's had to work late hours and all weekend.

Boris Johnson insisted he would honour the £60million package of business support for Greater Manchester. But Mr Johnson said the money would now be 'distributed to the boroughs' instead of going through the mayor's office.

Don't be kidded by those figures from Johnson and Co.

I spoke to a nurse in A and E on Monday and she told me that it's very quiet there at the moment.
She doesn't tell fibs.

I was speaking to a nurse from the MAU today who says the numbers on general wards, MAU, HDU and ICU are high. A&E is quiet due to people staying away again.

You are right AngelWood.
My sister works at the hospital and she says the same. It was the same during the first outbreak. A&E empty, while wards full of covid patients and it's the same this time.

“The north gets pushed around by Westminster...but on this occasion it was a step too far. A decision was being imposed from miles away...and sometimes you have to take a stand.”

@AndyBurnhamGM tells me he has “no regrets” over his handling of talks with the government.
