If Andy Burnham wanted an extra £20 million or so he cold have asked the 10 local authorities to chip in from their financial reserves. It would represent less than 1% of the reserves.
Anybody watching the news conference earlier must be concerned at the rapid spread of the virus in GM.
Wigan was used as one of the comparisons and on the basis of the figures the virus is virtually out of control here. There are more confirmed cases in GM than the whole of the South East and South West.
Nobody in government or the PM have caused the surge in infections in GM. It’s down to the people here not complying with the basics to prevent it spreading. One can only hope and pray they get the message now
