And of course, the MP's of all the other parties will not accept the increase and not feather their nests.

In the meantime, Pigs might fly over the Houses of Parliament!

It is disgusting, if there was a chance that the Tories were going to win the next election, they wouldn't have done this.

Pay and Compensation for MP's of all parties is set by the Independant Parliamentory Standards Authority set up in 2009.

Irrespective of who will lose their seat, any compensation increase applies to all MPs of all parties!

"Pensioners will receive an 8.5% rise in the basic state pension next April, unless the May to July earnings figures published today are revised next month. By then, inflation could be 4% or so, if the Bank of England’s forecasts turn out to be correct (very much NOT a given). So this would represent a very significant real increase in pensioners’ income. I suspect that on the
@therestismoney
podcast tomorrow we will discuss inter-generational unfairness in the management of the economy because older retired people have faired so much better than younger working people over 15 years because of asset and house price rises and the impact of the government’s “triple lock” on pension increases"
So says Robert Peston

But the 8.5% is to compensate for inflation ALREADY having eroded income in the past year. So it is untrue to say it represents a real increase by comparison with some future imagined inflation figure. In the year to follow, should inflation be 4%, then whether or not the next increment is above or below 4% will be determinant of real increase occurring or not.

On the second point, agree. Not only younger workers, but people earning less than £1 Million PA, tend to have not kept up with inflation for a few decades.

What really annoys me with the culture of our MPs today is the fact that if any ordinary person at a work ,suddenly finds his employment under threat or gone ,then that is it ta-ta go and sign on and try and get another job ,ok one might get a wee bit of redundancy, BUT when it comes to these GREEDY elected VULTURES NO thats not good enough the fact that they have been getting some £ 86 THOUSAND POUNDS PER YEAR PLUS EXPENSES &PERKS , NO THEY ARE NOW IN LINE FOR THIS OBSCENE DOUBLE COMPENSATION FIDDLE . Let's not quibble that is what it is nothing but a FIDDLE, irrespective of which-ever gang is in power it should be SCRAPPED STRAIGHT AWAY ,as i say the ordinary joe/janet in the stree gets sweet F.A. IT HAS TO STOP AND NOW .
