"Pensioners will receive an 8.5% rise in the basic state pension next April, unless the May to July earnings figures published today are revised next month. By then, inflation could be 4% or so, if the Bank of England’s forecasts turn out to be correct (very much NOT a given). So this would represent a very significant real increase in pensioners’ income. I suspect that on the
