GB if some one is claiming PIP they must have some form of disability. The person is assessed on their illness and disabilities and details of treatment medication test results and symptoms.to qualify there is a points score based on daily living and motibility. This can range from preparing food taking medication washing and bathing communicating verbally or budgeting to name a few and you are awarded points for each component
Read the link and it says you CAN claim PIP even if you are working

Tom told not to eat any grapes to much sugar never mind any PIPS. Has you know Yvonne is disabled and we have a motability car. One person I know once got on about us having a car and I said I would have prefered my missus to be fit and well and then she could walk down the street use a bus /train like any other abled person and not rely on using a wheelchair which I have to push. She is not capable of using a mobility scooter. Her only real pleasure in life is to go for a ride in the car and to see animals /birds

Too many now driving around in a Motorbility vehicle and many showing a Blue Badge when they are anything but Disabled.

Many a time, the genuine disabled people cannot get a disabled parking space because of the cheats!

Owd Codger how do you know it is a Motabilty vehicle You select your vehicle just like any other person and lease that vehicle through the Motability Scheme. A Blue badge holder can use their badge in any vehicle even your vehicle has long as it is used to the letter of the blue badge scheme. There are over 2.5 million blue badges now in use in the UK and like every thing else in life there are people who abuse the system There are people who print lamenated copies or people who use some one else's badge the list can be endless. When a Badge is displayed in a car the date of issue and the council who issued it is displayed but the photo of the person who it is issued too is hidden on the back so now one know who the badge belongs to

PeterP

You are indeed correct that the vehicle showing a Blue Badge might not a vehicle on Motorbility scheme and I have amended my comment.

However, as Parents who has a Disabled Daughter, my Wife and I find it appalling that so many are riding around in Motorbility vehicles when there is no Disabled person in the vehicle or displaying a Blue Badge where again there is no Disabled person in the vehicle.

Time that something was done about it!

BB at one time you had to go to the council and show proof you needed a "RADAR" key and then you were issued with one for £3. Now you can get one on E-bay This is why a lot of public toilets NOW have yale type locks and not the "radar"lock. I don't know of any public toilets in Southport which are now "radar" operated Has most public toilets now charge between 30-50p to get in, we would need a large bag full of change because my missis can go to the loo and half an hour later want to go again Good job there are toilets in most large shops supermarkets

There are so many people here who are ready to judge others without knowing their circumstances. We know that some people abuse the system, as happens in all systems. I suggest the ones who know for certain the ones who are abusing the system, do their civic duty and report them to the authorities. Otherwise stop making the assumptions that they have not got some "Hidden" disability. I have also noticed that in some establishments the word "Disabled Toilets" has been replaced by "Accessible Toilets" and are open and no need for a key. Some people who are not necessarily classed as disabled but have lesser mobility problems find it problematic to negotiate stairs. So the people who run these establishments have a little more foresight and empathy for others.

Yes it does. But then it also makes it easier for the ones less able. Do you have a problem with that, or would you like to make assumptions about who should be allowed to use those too. Just hope you don't have to walk a mile in their shoes.

no, i haven't, but people wth certain disabilities can use a normal toilet, and people in wheelchairs cant, they don't have a choice.

And just how many disabled people in wheelchairs have you seen queuing for a toilet. Because any decent person would give priority to them. Or would you like to police those too.

Jathbee

If the genuine disabled and their families did report those cheating on Motorbility and the Blue Badge schemes, they would have a full time unpaid job doing it with the number of the people in the country who are involved.

The silence about the topic is also an indication of how many of those who come on Wigan World are involved in the abuse of the schemes.

I'm not in a position to judge who is or isn't involved in the abuse of these schemes on WW. Except to say that the abuse of the systems carries way, way up to the top echelons of this country. And the sooner the leaders of this country start showing some kind of moral leadership, maybe the people will follow but I somehow think it's far too late in the day to expect that.

Where any type of money is concerned people will scam it.The benefits system had good intentions but it is very abused.I know people who have tried and should get benefits and been refused and I know people who just con the system.I think most people know someone who is playing the system.

How can you have a benefit system where people can get as much, if not more for not working for living than those working in low pay minimum wage job of forty hours.

No wonder for the first time since records were started, job vacancies have passed the unemployment figures, especially in minimum wage employment which has made some jobs no longer attractive to work in because of the poor pay!

Something wrong somewhere!

Replied: 26th May 2022 at 08:37

I agree, there is something wrong. Perhaps employers should pay a wage that people can live on instead of them having to claim benefits for the shortfall. Buy that's not going to happen. Slave labour is not hard to come by, even the sick, disabled and elderly are being forced into working in these jobs. So no wonder there are so many unwilling to take these jobs.

The problem is that the the major parties will do nothing about how it has got out of control for fear of losing votes at election time.

And here's me thinking that governments are there to look after the people who elected them to do the job OC. But of course that's in the long,
forgotten past. Now it's every corrupt politicians aim to lie, cheat and smarm their way to power. And once there, to lie cheat and and use any other means at their disposal to stay there and even when caught out, brazenly lie cheat and smarm some more. And it looks like it works too, even to the point t of people saying, it was just a party.

In my opinion, it wasn't just a party. It's the lies, lies more lies and the bare faced deceit. And it looks like he's got away with cocking a snook at the people of this country. Does he think we are all the uneducated, unwashed people of the Victorian era. Make me want to spit.
