My daughter told me that today someone had tried to take a dog that was tied up outside an Asda while the owner was shopping

Isn't it just terrible what they'll do for money, the heartless so and so's.
Replied: 19th Feb 2021 at 19:27
That's despicable and anyone caught doing that should get a custodial sentence for the extreme distress caused to the owners, and perhaps cruelty to the poor dogs. I never open my door once night has fallen unless I know who to expect, and that old gentleman must have had a terrible shock.
However, many is the time I've seen these sad creatures tethered to posts outside supermarkets in excessive heat, and when it's been pouring down and, for the life of me, I don't understand why anybody would want to put their pets through those conditions. In fact, why take a dog out to a supermarket at all? I've also seen them stashed in the back of cars in distress whilst the human goes shopping.
To be honest, I'm terrified of dogs, but for some odd reason they seem to like me and I will admit that there have been times when I've been tempted to take one home with me when I've seen the pitiful looks on their faces and they've been soaked to the skin, and wag their tails at me. It's not fair, and it's not right. It makes my blood boil when I see animals treated without the respect they rightly deserve.

I know you’ve all probably seen a lot of posts about suspicious characters etc and dog theft but it appears it’s getting close to home now. I live on Jubilee Road, Aiskew and someone’s left a zip tie and marked the fence on my back garden to pin point the house. I know it’s hard to try and spot ‘dodgy’ people with a lot of genuine delivery drivers etc driving around in plain vans. But this must be someone imminently wanting to steal my dog! If you own a dog, check your gate/ fence etc to see if you’ve been followed home too and remove the markings ASAP. I think we need to work together on this one before these bastards actually take one of our beloved pets.
I saw a lad cycling around the estate this morning on a bike with a funny looking dog who definitely wasn’t ‘walking’ it so I guess this was one of them pin pointing houses using a dog as a disguise!?
If anyone has any info/ CCTV please let me or the police know!

Apparently there is a new ploy being undertaken by dog thieves. Having a white van with RSPCA stickers on and removing dogs from dog walking owners under the pretext that the dog matches the description of a stolen dog.
NEVER. Let your dog be taken by anyone. Insist they follow you to the vets to have the dog scanned to prove ownership by the Chip. If they're not for real, they won't go with you! The RSPCA will NEVER take a dog like that.
Phone the Police at the first opportunity with as much detail as possible and if at all possible take photos of the offenders and car registration. There are also reports of these thieves door knocking in residential areas.

HI MOMAC::
IT WAS PROBABLY TO FEED THEIR DRUG ADDICTION IF EVER CAUGHT GIVE THEM THE BIRCH THAT MIGHT TEACH THEM ,, SCUM.
Replied: 21st Feb 2021 at 14:19
GB,I wish they could birch them, but as we all know we mustn't upset the little dears,if ever they tried to take my dog I'd hit them with anything that's got some weight to it,it would probably upset the do gooders, but I could cope with the backlash that would bring..the thieving scumbags.

the trouble is that these scumbags are not proper breeders, interbreeding so they end up with loads of medical problems.

And how many of those scumbags do you know who do that.

Are you sure you read it correctly. After all your comprehension leaves a lot to be desired.
The news papers that I read don't carry those kinds of stories either.

And as for stalking. Kettle, pot comes to mind
Replied: 22nd Feb 2021 at 10:31
I agree Basil, but I think they just want to sell the dogs for drug money, hence the reason why they're only after expensive dogs.

Animal ownership should be regulated. That would put a stop to this sort of work.
That said, car ownership is regulated, and that doesn't stop car thieves!

Apparently, a new one is smearing green stuff, like swarfega, on street lamps to notify that there are dogs/puppies in the house or even that it's easy to break in.

Off topic but the same theme, thieving toerags.
A neighbour in our street had his car jacked up and the catalytic converter robbed on Saturday.
This was in broad daylight in the afternoon, it was seen by another neighbour, three blokes in a car cruised down the street (apparently certain cars are easier to do and are worth more) jumped out of their car jacked up my neighbours and had it off and was back in their car and off within 30 seconds.
It was caught on CCTV by two other neighbours but the car they was in was nicked.
When the police arrived they said they had been spent the day visiting other people who has had the same thing happen to their cars.
They reckon the blokes are carrying knives and are just threatening anyone who interferes whilst they're at it.
The police said unless they are caught in the act there's nothing they can do, not much chance of that then.
