Today, I've ordered a clutch kit from a company in Blackpool.
Their website shows this ....
----------------------------------------------------
THIS PACKAGE CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING:
-BRAND NEW SINGLE MASS FLYWHEEL (BALANCED WITH LIFETIME WARRANTY)
-BRAND NEW CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE (4 YEARS/ 40,000 MILE WARRANTY)
-BRAND NEW CLUTCH DRIVEN PLATE (4 YEARS/ 40,000 MILE WARRANTY)
-BRAND NEW CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING (4 YEARS/ 40,000 MILE WARRANTY)
-BRAND NEW COMPLETE SET OF FLYWHEEL BOLTS
-BRAND NEW COMPLETE SET OF CLUTCH BOLTS
FOR THE FOLLOWING MODELS OF VEHICLE:
-VOLKSWAGEN TOURAN 1.9 TDI (YEARS 2003 TO 2010)
-----------------------------------------------
So far, so good. Can't complain about that guarantee!
Ordered over the phone and paid extra for next day delivery.
Then I got an e-mail, confirming the order and an invoice for the money I'd paid.
And this is what it says .....
---------------------------------------------------
"Dear valued Customer,
Please find attached a copy of the Sales Invoice relating to your recent purchase, which confirms the non-transferable Contract of Sale between you as buyer, and us as seller. Please retain a copy of this invoice for your records.
The Goods are covered by our standard six months unlimited mileage warranty; however, you are invited to lengthen your warranty to two years or twenty-four thousand miles (whichever occurs first) for an additional cost of 12% of the net value of the Goods purchased, or four years or forty thousand miles (whichever occurs first) at an additional cost of 18% of the net value of the Goods purchased."
---------------------------------------------------
When the clutch kit arrives, I'm going to put this before the Trading Standards and see what they say!
You see, I've used this company before and (me daft enough to keep paying them!) this won't be the first time I've had trouble with them.
Bloody wrong-uns they are!
Tomplum, if you read this, mention it to your Boff.
They're called 'Nationwide Clutch Distributors, UK'.

send the clobber back to em- if purchased online you're entltled to cooling off period of 14 days by law under consumer contract regulations if it wasn't bought from a private individual. you might have to pay the postage like
Perhaps you could do me a favour and and tell me how to insert links on ere. https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/whats-a-cooling-off-period-and-how-do-i-use-it-to-cancel-an-order

The same kit from Euro Car Parts is £474 odd.
I paid £239 odd, so I don't want to send it back. I'm just pointing out how thay promise a 4 year 40,000 mile warranty, then they tell you you have to pay for it!

Pewfall, the link is shown at the bottom of the page. The bit what says "Wigan Times" on it.
You only use this "]Wigan Times[/url] at the end of it and this [url=" at the front of it. Change 'Wigan Times' for the titleof your link.
Like I said, change the Wigan Times for your title!

The (4 YEARS/ 40,000 MILE WARRANTY) is from the manufacturer of the product, not 'Nationwide Clutch Distributors UK' and in their terms and conditions you have to refer to the manufacturer of the components for their terms and conditions of their warranty.
It is all bullshitted about here https://www.ncduk.com/terms.asp

Tonker, did you read the reviews before using them, and if so why did you still buy from them, was it because they wus cheap.??
Replied: 2nd Feb 2021 at 01:21
After reading those reviews I certainly wouldn't be spending good money after bad on any "extended warranty".
Either send it back or fit it and keep your fingers crossed it lasts!

The kit came this morning, about 9:15.
Yes, peebee, I've read the reviews before. You see, I've had clutches from them over the years, and paid a third of the price of main dealers or retailers.
Only time will tell (and he shot an apple off his lad's yed! )

Back in the day, and that is a day back in time, before t'internet, before Whupsy mate stopped kids having their milk (the bitch) well it wasn't before that, but it was before the miners strike in 1984
And it was before that ET film was released about that ugly little alien git, who getten lost, and waanted firt get wom
It was before the Toxteth riots, when all the scousers rioted, because they hadn't goot a job, but that was a load of crap wasn't it, it was because they wanted more dole money, I mean when has a scouser ever wanted a job
Whupsy was saying "coal not dole", and the Scousers were saying "dole not coal", and by the way we hate that Manchester Yoonited
So Tonker it were back then, and not now, a long time ago, back in the 'infinite annals of time'
Did yoo ever watch Time Tunnel Tonker

Anyroad,, I worked in a car parts shop, and we would order stuff for folk who wanted to fix their cars themselves, and one or two garages who were a pain in the rectum.
Clutches, exhausts systems and bits, water pups, radiators etc, any stuff we didn't keep in stock, and back in the day I learned that some component manufacturers were better than others, like for instance, and although they weren't an auto component, but Binatone Radios came with a guarantee, the guarantee was that they didn't work, they were guaranteed not to work
So clutch wise, and back then if someone wanted a decent clutch we would sell them a Borg & Beck clutch

This is a LuK friction plate, pressure plate and bearing, with a new solid flywheel, unbranded, probably manufactured by a little Chinaman on 50p an hour!
LuK clutches are German made (Jerry built! ) and are very good quality!
Sachs are also German, they are good too. Sachs are original equipment in Porsches!
Borg and Beck are the 'old faithful'. British made, by a middle-aged bloke in a checked shirt and tie, a flat cap, hairy hands, smoking a pipe. Just like they used to be, and just as heavy as they used to be too!
