I wish they would stop saying the money is going to China or India ETC because it does not go to the country!!! it goes to a Non-profit organization inside the said country....WHY because of that countries religious belief or political leaning etc. etc. they may not fund the said Non-profit for example a "girls school in some Muslim countries" so they have to get support from over seas..... its funny or sad how some people like to rally around a slogan or a nice little basket like this "Britain's million giveaway" They should have put it on the side of a bus

Peter they say charity begins at home . There are homeless people over here and many thousands of people relying on foodbanks. Dont get me wrong we has a nation waste a lot of money over here -HS2-tunnel under stonehenge-pop up cycle lane to name a few . Has a nation we are going into debt but are still sending money abroad no sense at all and it as to stop.

Peter I agree with most of that except the cycle lane bit, As a cyclist myself I see more and more cyclists getting about on bikes and when the weather gets warmer you motorists will be moaning about us slowing your journeys down, Also we need those lanes to protect us from the unobservant motorist who phones/text while at the wheel, I ve a few close calls of late, cycle lanes are the future, they are environmentally friendly, people friendly, healthy and fun,

the point I was trying to make was that sometimes A policy is more complex!! then just sorry we have no money ......some time a policy is pushed out like this one is because the gov wants to change the news cycle or "the subject" know one ? is talking about Priti Patel anymore

The Government is trying to turn us into Holland, where every bugger has a bike, but Holland is flat, and Scholes isn't, and not everyone can afford an electric bike

So bugger off, and yoo can't get hold of a bike at the moment, because they are all sold out, so what is the point of blocking a lane of traffic off, which causes traffic jams, and increases pollution, and then look at how many bloody bikes there are in the pop up traffic jam, there normally none

Tomplum I am not against well thought out cycle lanes but read about the pop up lane which are causing nothing but trouble with roads grid locked and higher pollution. They say get on your bike and cycle to work,This is OK if you live only a short distance from work but most commuters live many miles from work and it is not practable to cycle to work.Wigan area is very built up and it is a fine line where cycle lanes can be put. Peter, the cycle lanes are not causeing traffic chaos and polution, the cars are, In my view , there are not enough cycle lanes yet and the ones we have do not go far enough, Let me give you an example,
Today i went on a bike ride to Buscough, From my house, I can get on the shared pavement to the round about at the new A49 junction, Then there is a useless chalked cycle lane down Warrington road, which is useless because, cars park in it, then there is the famous saddle cycle lane system which is excellent from the saddle to the junction to the Red Robin pub on Robin Park Road, After that its roads only, So on that 30 mile round trip to Buscough, There is 2 miles of cycle lane and shared pathways, the rest is roads, So a new cyclist who has little or no confidence on roads can only do 2 miles and because most of that is shared pathway, you get many, ( I'm not moving for a bike) minded people who snarl at us,

what's the point

Point is that 'Pop Up Cycle Lanes' are quite simply like a broken pencil ......
