Here's hoping

Well, the current situation has got me to dust down and set up my bread maker machine once again.

It had been in regular use, but for a little while now, I have had a regime of an early morning walk into city centre to buy fresh bread. It is better than the machine produces, though the latter is OK. Not brill, but passable.

I'm down to cans of soup in my larder, so really would like some bread with the soup.

The flour was 'Best by Sept 2018' It was very clumped. ie lumpy!

It will be ready about 10-30, plus maybe half an hour to cool.

I do so hope that it will be edible!

Baxter's cock a leekie, and also pea and ham.

I would not have them, but for the fact that, for a few months, Tesco had it on offer: not quite BOGOF, but close. So, every time I passed the shelf I stuck a couple in the basket, thinking may as well have them whilst they are cheap - they will get used eventually.

I don't have a freezer currently, so bloody glad I have got them.

Damn, Damn, Damn,Damn, Damn!

Did not work!

No rise whatsoever!

Yeast was out of date. (BB Oct 2019), but not massively so, and it was the easy blend dried yeast (required by the machine) guess it must have died.

All I have is a stodgy mass in the bottom of the bread pan - boo hoo

We don't have a bread maker, but the missus uses her kitchen Aid mixer and bakes bread easily using it.

Yes, it is much better baked inth oven.

Breadmaker (which in past has always worked, but this time, I think it was the stale ingredients which let me down) does have two advantages: timer to bake overnight in time for fresh bread at breakfast, and only one vessel for all processes, so less messy.
