History of Wigan   (Help with ancient and recent history.)

Started by: Jazzy (8656)

Abraham Guest seemed to put all his energies into the North West becoming Alderman, Chairman of Governors at Upholland Grammar School, County Councillor, Chairman of Lancashire County Council, Governor of Wigan Technical College and a magistrate. He was also Director of Education for Wigan.

His home was The Mount, Orrell

He reputedly played one professional football match for Bolton Wanderers and sat on the bench as a replacement during an FA Cup Final.

Before entering local politics, he ran a successful clog making business in Bolton and was a staunch member of the King Street Baptist Church in Wigan, taking parties from the church all over the continent in the 1920s and 1930s.
