I have only just seen your reply, and that picture of the Springs Branch Open Day has really got me thinking, in that it was the event I attended in 1973 because even though it says that it was in 1970 but that would have been impossible, because has you can see in the picture, the depot was already electrified, and the WCML was electrified in the early 1970s the first equipment appearing in Wigan in 1972 with the first electric hauled train starting in 1974 and also the Class 25 was in its pre TOPS numbering configuration, which was also carried out in the early 1970s and although I am not in the picture, I am pretty sure that was taken on the day I was there in 1973 and that was the loco I had a ride on
