What was at one time also known as a Hanway?

Bowt googlin. Was on a quiz show recently.

Google tells me it was so-called after the first man in London (allegedly) to have one.

I had wrongly expected Hanway to be the name of a manufacturer, as with Hoover and vacuuum cleaner.
