If your boiler packs in the local gas supplier has fitters on hand to deal with it ( FOC) They ask questions regarding age, any children, any illnesses etc. and priority is given to those that need it. I reported ours at 4pm once and they came at 5.25am to repair it. We do have a gas fire. If it needs a spare part,and they have it, they will fit and charge you for the part. If they have no spare then you have to get sorted yourself.
