The fact Nottingham Forest have won twice as many European Cups than league titles puts it into perspective.
Before Liverpool met Brugge in the 78 final they played 6 games (that's games not ties) in the competition and lost two of those.

You are correct about one thing though Madrid were absolutely pathetic then.
