Tuddy – St. James Tavern Sunday dinner!
Happy memories with the ‘Ball & Boot’ boys in the 70s/80s there on our annual trip to Wembley irrespective of who was playing in the final – great sing a long but in those days we were thrown out on the street at 3pm, last orders!
And then in later years we ‘discovered’ the Cock Tavern in Euston – nothing fancy but always incredible packed for the Sunday disco from very early doors
Remember a gang of us knocking on the locked door at 10.30am one wet Sunday morning and the landlord Colin opening the door slightly and abruptly saying ‘you can’t come in’!
Mate said ‘why, are you not open yet?’
Colin, opened the door a bit wider and exclaimed, ‘No.....I’m full’ -and it was, the place was absolutely bouncing from ‘early doors’
Then big Malc Dainty strolled out of the pub, a bit worse for wear, took a puff on his fag and exclaimed.....’’there’s room for three more’’ - Happy Days!
