thats true dosco in the early 80s before the strike I worked with a fitter Ray Sefton and another electrician George Cummings we decided to apply to Anglo American about jobs in south africa we along with our wives were invited to a fancy hotel in manchester for final interviews the outcome was I was offered a job in the coalmines the other two jobs in a goldmine ,my wife got coldfeet we didnt go they did .after the strike 87 or 88 I was working at parsonage and Ray sefton started with the ATC as a fitter he had come back paid his mortgage off ,I turned three jobs down in my time at the mines the last job working on the channel tunnel, comical part 98 I started back in the tunnels with AMEC minus a wife never been so happy about the latter .sorry to drag on
