Hello again willowandpepper,
My gran, Annie McGuigan, took him in when Sam was still a young boy, maybe 14, but he was working when he got took in. he just became another of her natural sons, lol. They lived at 16 Garden Street in Scholes at that time before it all got torn down.

I'm thinking my uncle Charlie or my gran would have registered his death. I know he's not buried with the McGuigans. Never been able to find out where. I think you have the right birthday. Yes, he very much sounded like a Wiganer. Have spoken with my brother and he thinks Sam was in the Army and stationed in Gibraltar.
