sorry to disagree tuddy ,but the bonus scheme came in when i started in c9 about 1980 & thatcher was in power. it was designed to stockpile coal at the same time to split miners who suddenly went from council houses to detached properties because of the money they were making . except for us at golborne who.s face men made their own deal with the manager & left the rest of us out to dry. it was,nt much fun when you came to draw your money only to see the typists at anderton house who were on the area bonus getting more than us who was working near the face & on the pit bonus,as we were drawing sometimes half of what they got in bonus.and just to add insult to injury we had a ballot on whether to accept the bonus scheme or not , we voted as an area 2-1 not to have it . so much for ballots.
