One half of Ashton has been in St.Helens for exactly as long as the other half has been in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan. Before then, Ashton wasn't in either.

Also, for the same length of time, Haydock has also been in St.Helens, whereas before, it wasn't.
It wasn't in St.Helens when I was born there. But that doesn't alter the fact that it is now.

And, and you can check this, you'll find that Downall Green was closer to St.Helens, before it became part of it, than it was to Wigan.

Jouell, you said your 'mam' was born in Haydock?
