Jouell, were Geoff Aspinall lives in the barn there were two cottages at the side one was demolished many years ago and it is the occupants of the cottage now who built the brick wall which blocks the pathway. But they retain access for themselves with a locked gate hidden around the side. The bridge accross the brook has also been demolished preventing access. The red shale track was laid around the war years and was used by Cromptons the hingemakers from Highfield House to get to church with their pony and trap.
