Yes Dad was still in the Mines Rescue at that time. The week after Derek Wharton took us apprentices down there. It was eerie, there was dust everywhere, all that remained of the fan bagging was the wire and seeing odd boots and helmets lying around with tags attached to them was a sobering reminder of what had happened.
