Whups, if someone heard your mother maybe passed away, then you received cards of Sympathy and Condolences and she was still living... Wouldn't you be upset....

Now everyone knows that YES, Mrs Fairhurst has indeed passed away.. there is a difference between maybe and definite..

Just saying....
