It's called Merry Credit Cardmas, mostly at this time of year. People use their pesky cards because if they see something and can't afford to pay for it there and then, it gets put on "tick" as we used to call it, or hire purchase, meaning they can't afford it.

This way they make people think they have wads of money to flash about, when they haven't, but their little darlings demand only the very best games, trainers, toys etc.

Then, I assume, they get monstrous bills to be paid for over the next 12 months or whatever, which they're totally "surprised" at, and then they have a good moan. I've never had a credit card, so I'm just guessing.

I'm not saying everybody is so cavalier with what they spend, but I watched a programme not long ago where an unmarried couple had a joint credit card and they were in debt to the tune of £47,000.
