The reason the old locomotives and units clocked up your 2 million miles was because unlike today, the loss making British Rail under public ownership could not afford to replace them with new more modern rolling stock at regular intervals.

For somebody who claims to have worked on the railways, you don't seemed to know much about the progress that has being happening since the end of the loss making public ownership.

That was a pathetic performance for nearly 50 years.
