Another example of net zero madness. To make steel from iron ore requires coking coal, approximately 15 hundred weight per ton of steel produced. If the Port Talbot works switches to electric arc furnaces to make steel from scrap, or imported pig iron, the net zero crowd will be delighted with the reduction in CO2 emitted. However, the emissions will be produced in China to make the pig iron to send to the UK for steel making. China is currently burning over 4 billion tons of coal per year and worldwide there are 350 coal fired power stations being built or planned.
It’s time we put a stop to this madness of exporting jobs to get the UK to net zero, which to be effective for mankind has to be achieved globally.
