Part of an email I received from a Wiganworld member living in Canada.. Can anyone remember this pub the SWAN Or has any information.. Been checking and I cant find a pub in that location with that name??

"After WW1 my paternal Grandad kept a pub in Belle Green Lane and from what I can gather it was the closest to the mine and iron work at the top of B.G. lane. I think it was called the Swan but I'm not sure of that. My Grandad was Philip Nelson and so was my dad and eventually me!. At one time for several years there was 3 of us. My Grandad was Treasurer of Wigan British Legion for years. There was a big safe in the bedroom I used at his house full of Legion stuff. He started out as a blacksmith and served in the Royal Flying Corp. during WW1 He made all kinds of nick nacks out of shell cases and old bi-plane parts in his spare time in France. I have his dog tag. It was a disc of some composite material and had his name on one side and C of E on the reverse. Just enough to know who the body was and what to say as they buried you. I made another one out of a French coin. it was about the size of our quarter or a bit smaller that an old 2 shilling piece".
