We had a sink hole appear in the road in front of ours in November. It got critically worse on the Friday teatime, so much so I put my car in front of it to make traffic go around it. The workmen came out a hour after we reported it and put cones round it. They came back at 23:30 and put a proper cordon around it, at which point I put the car back in the garage. They came back 08:00 Saturday Morning to have a proper look and arranged a Monday repair. This they did and the road was back in use by 12:00 Tuesday after the tarmac was filled in. They did a good job, it could have been nasty for someone on a motorbike/bicycle.
