Some on here seem to have been so isolated from it, they appear to relate to a simplistic fantasy world.

Whilst agreeing with the general thrust of your post, I would argue that, nevertheless harm does result.

Villains don't learn to behave better: they learn not to get caught.

And overall, the learning is 'might is right': if you want to get your own way, employ violence.
