Cheers TTS I don't know what patients Leigh hospital looks after but Yvonne is only a young pup at 67 years old not some geriatric woman . Wigan hospital is just overwhelmed with patients and even when they get through an assessment there is no where to go for most of them except onto the corridors. Yvonne is lucky she is in a bed in A+E and is on oxygen and various drips but I cannot get to see a doctor to find out why she will or cannot swallow. She was on a liquid morphine which they put in a syringe and tried to give it orally but she would/could not swallow every thing is at this time given by a drip (nil by Mouth) .Every one of the nursing staff are overstretched . I had to chuckle a few times this afternoon ,One woman was refusing to be put in a cubicle and at one stage got off the bed and wanted to be put back on the corridor and another wanted to go on walk about and they had to keep fetching her back but things like this are not in a nurses remit but they have to cope with it
