Recent announcement 16 hours ago.. This is Shari Law. Coming to a town near you in a few years time..
Taliban announced women in Afghanistan will be stoned to death for adultery.
Taliban's Supreme Leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada made an announcement.
In the announcement, Akhundzada said that the international community had been advocating for women's rights which were against the interpretation of Islamic Sharia.
He says:
You say it's a violation of women's rights when we stone them to death. But we will soon implement the punishment for adultery. We will flog women in public. We will stone them to death in public.”
Women’s rights conflicted with Sharia law.
Taliban reimposed the harsh interpretation of Islamic law.
The Taliban banned music, cut off the hands of thieves, and stoned adulterers.
Ever since Taliban returned to power, women in Afghanistan have faced numerous challenges, including girls and women having no access to education, employment and public spaces.
The Taliban authorities banned girls from attending secondary school a month after returning to power. Following this, they closed university doors to them and after this, they restricted their participation in the workforce.
The women had to wear the all-encompassing burqa and were accompanied by a male relative whenever they went outside.
According to a United Nations report, the conditions for women and girls in Afghanistan are the 'worst globally' and the Taliban government's policies may amount to a 'gender apartheid'.
Tala, a former civil servant from Kabul, expressed fear and frustration, describing the daily imposition of restrictions and rules on women.
“As a woman, I don’t feel safe and secure in Afghanistan. Each morning starts with a barrage of notices and orders imposing restrictions and stringent rules on women, stripping away even the smallest joys and extinguishing hope for a brighter future,” said Tala.
"We, the women, are living in prison, and the Taliban are making it smaller for us every passing day," she added.
