First mate. Yes, materials have risen and wages have slightly risen. However, many continental bogs are self cleaning. Also, n another issue I've seen Travelodge cutting down on cleaning your room and making your bed unless you put in a request. When I was leaving the last Travelodge in London recently I noticed that robot vacuum cleaners were employed in the rooms. At Village hotels (now owned my an American firm i believe) you have to check yourself in and create your own key card. My point is as prices for services continue to rise staff are progressively let go. Not looking forward to AI completely taking over... and it's not far off!
