Maybe it is just a 'quick' way of asking if a person's circumstances have changed, is everything still the same, as in are you still living in the area, is the person in question still alive, have things moved on and other medical conditions have overtaken the condition which is requiring an operation, maybe some folk just don't want the operation, and you might think that the NHS has access to all this sort of information at the touch of a button, but they don't, they would have to make inquiries, so it is just easier to send a text to the patients asking them.
