Now,now girls don't get your knickers in a twist,remember memories aren't as reliable when we get to our stage in life.As you say Baldwin,all cars were black in the early forties and opening as you described,in fact the first motorcar I ever rode in was a pre-war Ford way back in in 1947,how I remember that was because as the driver was turning out of one street in the other I fell out because I was leaning on the door handle but because we were only going very slow I managed to bounce back into the car,no seat belts in those days.
