Thanks Empress. A number of my relatives came from Wallgate and my ole fella's too. Swan Street area. Youre lucky to have souvenir pictures. Sadly I have none of my dad on the boats. He and my grandfather worked together, I think for the Wigan Coal and Iron co. When the boats finished he had to go in the pit. He did 39 yrs and disliked every day of it. He always regarded himself as a boatman. Strangely, despite his whole life on the boats, my grandad couldnt swim!
