Thanks for your thoughts and comments everyone. Very kind of you.

I had a nice day and was bought some lovely things.

It's all well and good saying retire when your time is due, but in my case, I have three reasons for continuing.

1) I live alone and have no kids so I'd be bored to tears
2) I can't afford to stop working as I couldn't live on my
pension
3) I enjoy my work and, it's true that I may be holding
up a younger person but, with the greatest respect, I
am the only one in the company who has a good
command of spelling and English grammar. Most
kids today have no idea of those skills as they're so
used to text speak, or relying on their computers to
do that job for them. Even one of my bosses had to
to ask me how to use an apostrophe!

So, as long as I'm able, I will continue to work.
