What's 'the west' got to do with it?

Cheshirecat, it didn't 'start in 1948' at all. They've been fighting each other, down there, for thousands of years! The 1948 event was an attempt to stop the agro, once and for all. But, how arrogant of the British to even think they could stop it so easily?
