A friend of mine lives in Bolton and he told me that in the sixties, their Watch Commitee would not allow any live music other than juke boxes in the pubs and people used to have to catch a bus to out lying districts of Farnworth, Horwich, Swinton, Westhoughton etc to watch rock groups and other live entertainment in pubs.

He said it was done so that people would go to the political, legions and working mens clubs in Bolton.
