UK population 1998 58.49 million
25 years later 67.74 million
Increase 9.25 million

Percentages are irrelevant because the increase in numbers
of people is not homogeneous across the UK.
Tower Hamlets in London has seen its population grow by 25% over the past 10 years. Bangladeshi immigrants account for a third of the population.
Nearer home the population of Oldham has more than doubled from 2001 to 2021.
None of the figures include the under the radar illegal migrants which is estimated to be as high as 1.2 million, the highest in Europe.
In my business travel days I could speak a reasonable coverage of French, German and Italian plus a smattering of Afrikaans.
