It is culture that creates division. Most of our immigrants from time immemorial have lived peacefully amongst us and integrated into society. The problem comes from cultures that are alien to the western way of life.
The Brexit vote happened because Mrs. Merkel refused to give David Cameron temporary relief from European migration to the UK arising from freedom of movement across the EU. There is no doubt that the request today would be granted by the German Chancellor.
Over the last 25 years the UK population has increased by more than the population of Israel. The net result is a drastic shortage of housing, an overloaded health service and unrelenting pressure on all public services.
The UK resistance to more immigration is driven by the above factors, not race or colour or white supremacy.
You do most, if not all of us, a disservice by describing us as having a little island culture. It’s certainly not my experience of the people I know or have met across the UK. Nor is it a view I’ve experienced from meeting people overseas during 30 years of extensive business and personal travel.
