Ena, I agree about the ex-Squaddies, whom I loosely included in my previous comment. That sort of nightmare never leaves you.

I know how ridiculous this may sound, but shortly after leaving Northern Ireland in 1975 I was in Pemberton shopping. I thought I was perfectly okay but suddenly, a car backfired directly opposite me, and I dropped down on the ground. Folk must have thought I was crackers, but it was instinctive, but I felt silly afterwards.

For years it's been being said that fireworks should only be sold to those responsible enough to have a Firework Display in an appropriate place, and to have trained medics standing by in case of accident or injury.

The Fireworks Shop on Beech Hill Avenue is open every day of the week, and I'm sure they don't care who they sell them to.
