I used to sub contract for council houses and a lot of my work was, re lets, So when a house was empty, I used to bring the plumbing up to the standard required and joiners would do the same for Wood, Doors, cupboards , etc etc, No decorating was done, but, a painter would paint the doors, skirting boards arc's and stairs,
One one of my last jobs was a flat in Hags Fold and to my surprise, the flat was brought up to showhouse conditions, new kitchen, fitted bedroom, full redec in every room, tables chairs, cups saucers, plates, all you need to move in, even a cooker, micro wave, kettle and toaster and as a date was set for the handover, A council rep was there to overlook the finish, I asked, " who's moving in, Royalty" the rep answered , A poor less fortunate person, he arrives in England tomorrow and I want this place finished by then"
