Newsnight came into it's own during the Falklands War in 1982, because at that time you only had the normal news bulletins of the time, which were the One O'Clock - Six O'Clock and the Nine or Ten O'Clock news, but Newsnight which has always been broadcast at the 10.30pm time slot, would go into in depth reports on the progress of the Falklands Task Force, which was on it's way to the Falklands, and then on about the war itself, but that was over 40yrs ago, and now in these days of multiple 24hr news channels, it is probably time to move on, but I think that in its time, it has done its job well
