What folk should realise is that in this country are now taxed more 'indirectly' than 'directly' as in we may pay less income tax, but the government has made up for that loss by putting up taxes like VAT (value added tax) because it is easier and cheaper to collect VAT from the likes of Asda, than to chase small business men around, using hoards of tax men, to collect trivial amounts of tax, so they give it away with one hand, and take it from yoo with the other hand, and it was the advent of computerisation in the 1960s and 1970s, which has made it possible for the government to do so.
